Mindy Austin's gift f​or music developed at an early age. She started piano lessons at the age of five and moved on to the guitar at age 14. Her talent spilled over into the years that followed, and she developed further into an excellent singer, and musician.She attended Los Angeles City College, where she studied music and met many up and coming Jazz musicians.


Growing up in Los Angeles afforded her the opportunity to see many of the jazz greats at small local clubs, such as Herbie Hancock, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, John Klemmer and Dianne Reeves. Being exposed to many great artists at these local jazz venues,  helped influence her musical direction.

Her broad range of influences includes Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Julie London, Dianna Krall, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, and many more.


The timeless quality of her effortless style, melded with her lilting soulful voice, will seduce you into listening to every word of her passionate songs. She has performed solo and with various bands throughout Central and Southern California. Singing a variety of styles of music, from pop, rock, country and blues, has made her interpretations of Jazz Standards versatile and unique.
